Miles To Go Collected: Sometimes a new series captivates you right from the first issue, hitting all the right notes and leaving you eager for more. B. Clay Moore sets Miles on a solid course, ensuring that by the last panel, you’re already craving the second issue. It’s a rare accomplishment that speaks volumes about the potential of this series.
Although I’ve only read a few of Moore’s standalone issues in the past, I’m excited to see what he brings to the table with this creation. Collaborating with Stephen Molnar on artwork is a significant boon, as the book boasts a visually stunning aesthetic, featuring clean designs and vibrant colours that lend it a captivating look.
The character designs are impressive, the detailed settings add depth, and the fluidity of character movement brings the story to life in a beautiful manner.
The premise of the story is compelling. We’re introduced to Amara, a woman with a dark past. From a young age, until she turned thirteen, she was trained by her mentor, who may also be her adoptive father, to be a killer.
She excelled in her training, but now, decades later, she grapples with the memories and regrets of her violent past.
She visits her dying mentor in the hospital while simultaneously dealing with a divorce from her husband and trying to protect her sharp-witted daughter, who is uncovering the secrets her parents have kept hidden.

Amara is a well-crafted character with a striking appearance that reflects her history of darkness and her enduring vigilance as if she is always prepared for the reappearance of her past.
While Amara is doing her best to navigate her present life, unseen forces are starting to stir, threatening to disrupt everything. Two NSA agents are assigned to monitor her mentor’s condition, resulting in a mishap that leads to obtaining Amara’s DNA for further investigation.
This sequence takes a comical turn, but it sets the stage for larger events to unfold. The revelation that Amara is a rare person of interest sets a chain of events in motion, yet it’s her mentor’s death that puts a target on her back, as those waiting for his demise now set their sights on her.
Witnessing these events unfold while discovering the extent of her prominence on the watchlist is undeniably intriguing, and the brutal climax adds an unexpected twist.
Overall, Miles has all the makings of an enthralling series, with Moore’s skilled storytelling and Molnar’s exceptional artwork combining to deliver a captivating reading experience.
