Each revelation surrounding the reported superhero death intensifies Kokin’s suspicion, prompting Noah to retrieve his father’s meticulously detailed notes. This case has drawn Kokin out of retirement, as evidenced by his return to his abandoned hideout. The issue cleverly opens with a montage showcasing Kokin in his prime, sporting an impressive armoured costume and custom vehicles that pay homage to a certain beloved caped crusader. Kokin is portrayed as an older, weathered veteran who can still deliver a powerful blow when necessary, and in this issue, the situation demands it. He seeks out Noah for access to his father’s invaluable information.
Ruairi Coleman’s artwork, accompanied by Lauren Affe’s colour work, provides a striking contrast between the flashback sequence at the start of the issue and the present-day events. The remainder of the issue adopts a more grounded tone, even during the thrilling fight sequence, which opts for practicality over bombast. The visual style and atmosphere align more closely with ‘The Dark Knight film, resulting in a dramatic and immersive reading experience.
