The Wrong Earth: Confidence Men #1

In the parallel worlds of Earth-Alpha and Earth-Omega, two dragonfly-themed heroes, Dragonflyman and Dragonfly, alongside their sidekicks Stinger, battle against supervillains and crime. On Earth-Alpha, Dragonflyman and Stinger maintain their noble and colorful personas, protecting their world with unwavering dedication. However, on the darker Earth-Omega, Dragonfly and Stinger embrace a more ruthless approach, fighting crime and corruption with extreme methods. A twist of fate brings about a switch between Dragonflyman and Dragonfly, leading to confusion and comedic situations. But that’s a story for later.

In the present, both Dragonflyman and Dragonfly find their young partners, Stinger and the other Stinger respectively, grappling with a crisis of faith due to a series of mistakes. The heroes must find a way to restore their sidekicks’ confidence and prepare them for battle once again. Naturally, they have different ideas on how to achieve this. Mark Waid proves to be an excellent choice as the writer for both heroic duos in The Wrong Earth. As the writer behind works like Irredeemable, which deconstructed Superman, and the Underworld Unleashed storyline that explored the dark sides of classic DC Comics villains, Waid adeptly captures the Silver Age charm of Earth-Alpha and the darkness that permeates Earth-Omega.
