Clear #2

Clear #2

Scott Snyder and Francis Manapul continue to weave their sci-fi noir tale in Clear as protagonist Dunes delves deeper into the mystery surrounding his ex-wife’s death. The question lingers: was it murder or suicide?

Snyder introduces a captivating new element to the world of veils, where individuals perceive reality as they desire. Dunes contemplates the risks associated with shared veils, which have led to widespread suicides as participants all witness the same distressing images. Kendra, his ex-wife, was investigating a secretive organization specializing in Black Veils.

This concept is both intriguing and possibly serves as Snyder’s commentary on the impact of social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook/Meta, where negative thoughts can be disruptive and destructive. With the advancement of technology, the world depicted in Clear doesn’t seem far-fetched.

Dunes embarks on his investigation, visiting various locations, including Kendra’s workplace at the Department of Connectivity (DOC). Within the DOC, a tree stands as a reminder of a time before the Veil technology was established. It’s refreshing to see some semblance of rules and structure in this technologically advanced new world.

The story continues to unfold, captivating readers with its blend of science fiction and noir elements, as Dunes peels back the layers of the mystery and explores the intriguing landscape of Clear.
